The true character of a Pilzner can only be achieved by using nothing less than the highest quality ingredients. We use only Australian grown Pilzner malts, along with three separate additions of Saaz hops from the Zatec region of the Czech Republic.
Our genuine Plzen yeast strain was imported specifically to handle the cool fermentation temperatures and an extended lagering time, resulting in a true Bohemian style Pilzner.

Pinchgut Brewing's BLK PLZ is a Czech style dark beer. Brewed along the same lines as a Franconian dark kellerbier; full-bodied, malty and sometimes quite bitter, the U Fleků Ležák is a beautiful example of this style and the inspiration for Pinchgut BLK PLZ.
After painstakingly researching the original grain bill for the U Fleků Ležák, we have endeavoured to replicate this famous dark lager by balancing the big four-malt flavour with a soft, hop bitterness. Remaining true to the authentic style, Czech-grown Saaz hops are used to add complexity and a subtle, spicy hop aroma.
An all-round favourite that’s great with steak, a hearty casserole or even cheeses, the BLK PLZ also matches perfectly with rich chocolate desserts.
